We have shutters!

And a changing table . . .
After a lot of hard work, the changing table is complete . . . minus the pulls that are on back order. I have spent the day alternating "work work" on the computer and washing the baby's things so I can organize them before dad gets home tomorrow night.
We are finished with the bathroom, for now. Still planning on painting the vanity and getting a new top but at a later date.

Everything is coming along! We have a dresser to paint that will go beside the twin bed along with shelves I had in my room growing up. Have a few things to hang, put the swing together and we should be set. Sure there are things we will think of or forget but the chaos is starting to get organized. A huge weight off our shoulders.

T's new best friend

Last weekend, Tucker and I were up early one morning and decided to go through a bunch of boxes I found from elementary school and up. He kept sniffing a stuffed animal I found and the next thing I know, they were both gone. He ran around all morning playing with the toy. All I could do was laugh. Tucker couldn't wait to show dad his new toy as soon as he woke up. If we saw him without it, we would ask him where his puppy is and he would run to get it! Looks like we may have an issue on our hands :)

34 weeks!

Each week is flying by faster and faster!
Dad is gone again for a few days, hopefully the last time until the baby is born. We have a couple more things to paint in the baby's room and then we are done. . . for now. I told John the rest can wait until after lil bambino arrives. Would like to spend some time together NOT working before we are a family of three (four, sorry Tucker!). Poor dad has worked so hard he deserves a break.

According to babycenter.com -

How your baby's growing:

Your baby now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long. Her fat layers — which will help regulate her body temperature once she's born — are filling her out, making her rounder. Her skin is also smoother than ever. Her central nervous system is maturing and her lungs are continuing to mature as well. If you've been nervous about preterm labor, you'll be happy to know that babies born between 34 and 37 weeks who have no other health problems generally do fine. They may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, they usually do as well as full-term babies.

We graduated!

Last night we had a breastfeeding class, our last course before the baby comes. Wish they had gone over how dad could help mommy out more but at least they showed a lil :) Dad thinks he is going to be free of duties as long as I am breastfeeding . . . WRONG! His favorite part was the sheet they gave us on the different stages (colors) of poop. It will definitely come in handy when HE is changing the diapers.
6 and a half weeks and counting . . . WOW is all I have to say! We are getting very anxious. Nesting mode is in full force, when I have the energy and my back isn't killing me. The baby is keeping me up quite a bit these days with his/her kicks, movements, and/or hick ups. The nursery and bathroom are coming along so stay tuned for updates. Dad is going out of town for a few days so mommy is going to try and organize as much as she can , still have one more dresser and shelves to paint.

Changing Table

I woke up this morning to dad putting on coat 2. He has been working a lot and traveling quite a bit recently that I can not thank him enough for all of his hard work on the nursery.
Thanks dad! We love you!

33 weeks!

7 weeks (give or take) before we all get to meet Baby Brent! Wonder if he/she will be early or late? Dad is still hoping for March 5 :)

According to babycenter.com
This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening.

This Week's Activity:

Wash your baby's clothing and bedding. You know all those adorable outfits you bought or received at your baby shower? You should wash anything that will go near your baby's skin to remove any irritants in the fabrics. The gentlest detergents are those designed for babies and those that are labeled hypoallergenic or good for sensitive skin.

The one time I will actually love doing laundry :)

Happy Birthday Aunt Liz & Uncle James!

(January 18)
(January 14)

We love you and can't wait to see (meet) you in March!

32 Week Checkup

We met with Dr Wells this morning and he said everything is perfect. . . another great appointment, in and out! We love those!

I am measuring right on track, so yes my belly is huge but apparently the size it is suppose to be. The baby is still facing down which is where we want her/him to stay! The heartbeat ranged from 135 - 142. I mentioned I am starting to have more and more Braxton Hicks Contractions which is normal but if I feel 4 strong ones within an hour then we need to look more into it. Many people can misinterpret them for preterm labor.

All in all everything is fabulous! Baby Brent is having fun in my belly growing about a half a pound each week, leaving mom more and more uncomfortable! Just a couple of months to go!

According to Babycenter.com
By now, your baby weighs 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and is about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in your uterus. You're gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to your baby. In fact, she'll gain a third to half of her birth weight during the next 7 weeks as she fattens up for survival outside the womb. She now has toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). Her skin is becoming soft and smooth as she plumps up in preparation for birth

Chaos!

Mom has her work cut out for her
We finally got a mattress
More chaos waiting to be organized
Shutters should be installed next week and hopefully the changing table will be brought inside so the nursery will start to look like a nursery and not a storage room.
Nesting mode is in full swing but unfortunately there is not enough time in our busy schedules to complete the big items quickly so for now I have to be patient and wait to organize!

Night & Day

The bathroom is almost finished . . . well the walls, ceiling and window . . . and boy does it look completely different. Dad has done a great job and it looks fabulous! One more coat and we are ready for the shutters to be installed, which will hopefully be next week.

Next project, the changing table!

Surprise Baby Shower

Couple of weeks ago, my friends threw me a surprise Baby Shower at Pastiche. They definitely got me! Pretty easy to throw anything over a pregnant lady who feels like she has lost her mind :) Below are few pics Aunt Bebe took.
Surprise . . .
The delicious menu
Thanks everyone for the fabulous goodies! Can not wait for Baby Brent to get here and use everything!

We are ready!

Well may be not ready but one step closer . . . to having a better understanding! Today we spent all day in a birthing class at the hospital. We learned a lot about the different stages and what could happen in many different situations. Hoping for a "normal" delivery but we know plans do not always go accordingly. We were dreading this long day but both left very excited. May be dad more than mom since he doesn't have to give birth :)
We can not wait to meet Baby Brent in a couple of months. Dad is so excited he is currently painting the bathroom walls. Mom on the other hand is relaxing by the fire, watching a movie.

31 weeks!

Where has the week gone!!! We are in the single digit countdown . . . 9 weeks until due date! The baby should measure over 16 inches long and about 3.3 lbs (try carrying four naval oranges) and is headed into a growth spurt . . .. oh goodness!

Let the major nesting mode begin! Dad has been working hard to complete the bathroom walls so we can focus on the furniture, changing table and dresser. As soon as they are finished I can start organizing all the goodies scattered in the baby's room and make sure everything is checked of our list . . . Thanks Court for all your help! Couldn't do it without you! If anyone has any suggestions for what a new mom will need, especially during those first few days/weeks, please let me know!

30 week checkup

Everything went well this morning! He said mom and baby are doing great and to continue what I have been doing! Drink my milk and eat my veggies (spinach) to get my blood count up. Can't complain about good news! He did say boy or girl, the baby is an active one . . . REALLY! Will that explain why after only a couple hours of sleep last night I was awake at 1 AM! Ugh! People keep saying get as much sleep as you can while you can . . . I am trying but can someone tell this to Baby Brent!

Baby Brent should be about 3 lbs and about 15.7 inches long, a head of cabbage.

It has been yet another crazy week! My friends threw me a surprise baby shower, the farm for a few days for New Years and a good friends wedding. As soon as I get the pics from Aunt Bebe, I will post pics from the shower.
