Brooks & Bretts Baby Shower

Last Thursday, we hosted a couples baby shower for Brooks & Brett. Kate and I spent majority of the time in the kitchen so didn't get a chance to take pictures but dad took some photos of the babies . . . mini photo session.

Took mom a lot longer than anticipated to get the house ready! Who knew being 26 weeks pregnant and getting ready for a party would be exhausting :) Dad was so excited our house was spotless. Took a few pics before the party started . . .
Buffet where we served white chicken chili, salad, cornbread and dessert.

27 week checkup

I had a doctors appointment with Dr Laubscher this morning, same doctor I saw 4 weeks ago. She said all is well. Measuring right on track and the heartbeat is 140. Every question I asked, her answer . . . "Part of pregnancy!" Ugh! Starting to get uncomfortable and swelling!

This past Saturday marked 3 months until my due date! I have mixed emotions . . . not looking forward to growing bigger or swelling but at the same time I am nervous that we only have 3 months left before the baby is here!

The baby should be about 2 pounds, the head of a cauliflower OR (for Uncle James) a sock monkey, and about 14 1/2 inches long with the legs extended.

The clock is ticking way too fast! I will be 28 weeks Friday . . . Third Trimester!

26 Weeks . . .

The baby is about a pound and two thirds and measures 14 inches from head to heel; about the size of an English hothouse cucumber. I have a doctors appointment next Monday. These last 3 weeks have flown! Feels like I just had a checkup last week!

We have been super busy decorating the trees and getting ready for Brooks and Bretts Baby Shower that we are hosting on Thursday. Dad finished the windows and trim as well as the last coat of paint on the walls. Thank you dad, it looks so good! The nursery is coming together. The shutters should be here in the next few weeks. Next project . . . bathroom & furniture.

Stay tuned for picture updates . . .

Family Traditions

Every Christmas, we decorate the tree and watch Christmas Vacation. This is normally how it turns out . . . mom decorates while the boys relax and watch the movie!
Dad did help put the lights on the very top and I finished the rest.
Only got as far as unwrapping all the ornaments!

This year we not only got a tree for the den, where we spend most of our time, but got one for the living room so it can be seen from the street. Something dad says is a must! Normally we would have everything up but this year mom is moving a lil slower. We have a busy week but hope to have it finished soon!

Light Parade

Saturday night we went downtown to watch the annual Light Parade. The Jennie Mac left at 4:30pm but thanks to Gigi and Pops, they dropped us off later so mommy could take a nap. Thanks again! When we got there they were right by the Main Street Bridge with a great view!
The Buseys watching the parade

The dragon was our favorite! (Sorry the pics are hard to see)
Gingerbread House

After the parade, there is a fabulous fireworks show!
Best part!

I passed!

Last week, I took my second Glucose Test. This one didn't go as well as the first one I took during my first trimester. I was given orange, instead of lime, and had 5 minutes to drink, instead of 10. It really wasn't too bad until I had about 20 minutes left of waiting and I started to feel real hot and faint. I was sitting in a room all by myself wondering what was going on! Afraid to stand up in case I passed out so I inched my way to the door and asked the nurse if I could have some water. She immediately told another nurse to help me! Guess I looked as bad as I felt. The nurse came in to put a damp paper towel on my forehead and neck. I had to use the restroom so was wheel chaired in front of everyone! Not fun but thank goodness started feeling better by the time they needed to take my blood. I have been told that if you do not pass you have to do it again but wait 3 hrs vs the one. I have been praying that doesn't happen to me!
This morning I got the phone call I have been waiting for . . . you passed! So relieved however there was a but, she said my iron was low so need to take an iron supplement in addition to my prenatal vitamin.
